Sofa beds come in many different shapes and sizes, and the two most prevalent sizes sold today are the single and the double sofa bed.  Which one you choose will depend on how much space you have to spare in your house.  If you plan on having guests sleep over at your house sometimes, you may want to think about replacing one or two of the couches your already have in your home with some sofa beds.  This way, you don't have to make room for new furniture, and you can double your couches as beds for your guests.

If your guests will usually be spouses or people who would be fine sleeping together, then you should probably go with the double sofa bed.  In the case of needing multiple locations for different people, you will definitely need to choose getting a few singles because you don't want to force two people to sleep together if they don't really want to.  Different homes will have different needs, so each situation is going to be different.  Think about the space you have in your home, and that will help you make the best decision when it comes to sleeping arrangements for your guests.
